Cameron Johnson, a native of Troy, Michigan, was a standout goal tender for the University of North Dakota men's ice hockey team from 2014-2018. He is UND's all-time leader in career goals against average (2.08), tied for fourth in career shutouts, and is fifth in save percentage (0.916). As a freshman, Cam appeared in two games in relief of Zane McIntyre and gave up 4 goals in 43 minutes, but his sophomore season was outstanding. In his sophomore season, he went 24-4-2 with a goal against average of 1.66 and had a save percentage of 0.935. That year he earned six National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) goalie of the week awards, earned American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-American West Second Team honors, and earned NCAA Frozen Four All-Tournament Team honors. He stopped 33 of 34 shots in the NCAA championship game in UND's 5-1 national championship game victory over Quinnipiac.  That season, he had a shutout streak of 298 minutes, 25 seconds, setting a UND record and the second longest streak in NCAA Division I history.

His junior campaign, he went 20-13-3, with a goal against average of 2.39 and had a save percentage of 0.903. That season, injury stopped his streak of 55 consecutive starts, during which time his record was 36-12-4 with a goal against average of 1.90, with 8 shutouts, and a save percentage of 0.925. He had a 21 shot shutout against top-ranked University of Denver in the NCHC semifinal that season. His senior season was limited due to injury and he had a record of 12-9-7, posting a 2.14 goal against average and a save percentage of 0.910. In 2018 he played in three games for the Binghamton Devils of the American Hockey League with 0-1-0 record and a goal against average of 3.90 and a save percentage of 0.876. Prior to UND, Cam played Fargo Force 2012-13, 2013-14) and the Waterloo Black Hawks (2013-14) of the United States Hockey League.
