1K, 2K, and 4K. What’s the Difference? Which Krampade Should I Purchase?

A question we are often asked:  “Which Krampade should I purchase?”  At the surface, this question seems simple and one that almost every customer has at one point or another.

The short answer:  Krampade 2K.  The long answer: It’s a bit more complicated.

We understand everyone is different and that each individual has a varying need for electrolyte replacement, including the most abundant electrolyte in your body, potassium.  From a nutritional perspective, the amount of potassium you need is dependent upon your activity and baseline excretion by your kidney.   According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) the average adult needs 4,700 mg of potassium every day.  This is an average number for both men and women, but the FDA recommends that a nursing mother consumes 5,100 mg of potassium every day.

That’s why we have three levels potassium in Krampade : 1K (1000 mg per serving), 2K (2000 mg per serving), and 4K (4000 mg per serving).

That’s the difference between 1K, 2K, and 4K.

Which Krampade should you purchase?  It depends on who you are.

Our starting recommendation for MOST PEOPLE is Krampade 2K.  If you have no idea where to start, look at the 2K.  For most people, we recommend using one or two servings of Krampade 2K daily.  This gives you either 2,000 mg or 4,000 mg of the 4,700 mg of potassium you need daily.  The remaining amount can be consumed in your normal diet!

For athletes, Krampade 2K in often sufficient.  We recommend drinking one serving before practice/competition and one serving after practice/competition.  If that’s not enough, you can add another serving during activity.  For those “heavy sweaters” and athletes prone to cramping, Krampade 4K is what you need.  We advise drinking only one Krampade 4K at the time of cramping, until you understand your needs.  For MOST people, this is more than sufficient to stop active cramping.

For women, we recommend Krampade 2K.  This provides the potassium you need, helping to stop and prevent cramping, especially at that “time of the month”.  Period cramping, be gone!

We have many people who find Krampade helps them in their day-to-day activity and occupation, helping to recover from strenuous days.  For these people, we recommend drinking Krampade 2K.  Drinking one Krampade 2K in the morning and one Krampade 2K in the evening will help prevent cramp formation and fulfill your daily potassium needs!

If you happen to be a seasoned (senior) (elderly) person, we advise starting with the 1K.  This is a lower level of potassium that is easier for the kidney to handle, especially as one ages and kidney function declines.  We advise drinking one Krampade 1K in the morning and one Krampade 1K in the evening.  If 1K isn’t enough, for most people it is generally not be a problem to switch to Krampade 2K, but if you have a question, consult your physician.

There you have it!  Our general guideline is to start with two servings of Krampade 2K, with one serving in the morning/before activity and one serving in the evening/after activity.  Consult the Instructions for Use for additional information and this is found on your pouch of Krampade.  For those prone to a lot of cramping, we recommend keeping 4K on hand to help stop any cramping you may experience.
